Story Leaf does not require an account. Reading progress and learning preferences stay on your device. We do not operate a server that stores your reading history, name, or email address.
Version 1.6 and later include Google AdMob banner advertisements for free users. Advertising involves data processing by Google as described below. Earlier versions do not include an advertising SDK.
The app does not upload your reading history, learning level, genre or series preferences, achievements, or dictionary lookups to us or use them as advertising-targeting data. We do not ask for your name, email address, date of birth, or precise location.
The free version displays a small banner below the main tabs or reading controls. The app does not present automatic full-screen advertisements. After an active supporter purchase is verified, it stops requesting and displaying advertisements. Previous supporter purchases also qualify.
The Google Mobile Ads SDK may process IP-derived approximate location, app or device identifiers, advertising impressions and interactions, and crash, performance, or other diagnostic information. Google uses this data for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and analytics. This means the ad-supported version cannot be described as collecting no data.
Our configuration disables personalized advertising and publisher first-party ID, applies child age treatment and a General ad-content rating, and does not request access to Apple's advertising identifier through App Tracking Transparency. We do not use a separate learning analytics service or send book titles and reading progress as ad-targeting information.
Google's collection, processing, and retention are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. See also its Mobile Ads data disclosure. The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform to manage applicable privacy choices. Where a privacy-options entry point is required, it is available under Reading Settings > Ad privacy settings.
Apple processes supporter purchases and restoration through StoreKit. The app uses verified purchase entitlements to remove advertisements and unlock supporter themes. We do not receive or store your payment details. Apple handles purchase data under its own privacy policy.
Story Leaf can be used by children. We do not collect age or children's learning histories. Because we do not ask users to identify their age, the app applies child-oriented advertising protections to all users. Google may still process information needed for advertising as described above; these protections do not make advertising data collection zero.
If you choose to submit a bug report or feature request, the form is hosted by Google Forms and is subject to Google's privacy policy. The app version number, OS version, and device model may be pre-filled to help us diagnose issues; submitting the form is always your choice. Information you choose to submit is used to answer your request and maintain the app.
Learning data remains on your device until you delete the app. Deleting local app data does not automatically delete data previously processed by Google or Apple. Those providers manage retention and deletion according to their own policies and privacy controls. Contact us through the support page if you have a privacy request about information you voluntarily submitted to our support forms.
You can read offline, manage applicable advertising privacy choices in Reading Settings, or use a supporter purchase to remove advertisements. Opening external support pages or submitting a form is optional.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
